Patricia is a member of the instructional technology faculty and coordinator of the Adult and Higher Education program at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has taught online for 10 years. Her distributed learning experience began with TI-IN Network teaching art history to high school students, and then programming professional development for K-12 teachers and administrators. She has designed and taught over 20 courses offered partially or completely online. Most recently she has worked as research faculty through the Office of Naval Research and the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative, researching emerging technologies and learning systems, with a particular focus on distributed learning environments. Her publications include a book on next generation course management system, many journal article and book chapters, and invited publications. She is a regularly invited speaker for organizations including EDUCAUSE, the Instructional Technology Council, Texas Community College Teacher Association, Net.net, and the eLearning Guild. As director of grants and projects, McGee contributes to campus-wide technology initiatives and has worked with corporate, non-profit, military, and K-20 organizations. Most recently she is focusing on emerging technologies and learning designs that are truly learning-centered.
